The first you notice when you start installing apps in your Android device is that the vast majority of those apps automatically put their shortcut in your Home screen. This usually only happens with apps that you install from the Google Play Store but that is where most people get their apps. Now, while this can be helpful, it can also prove to be highly annoying. If you do not wish for apps to automatically create these shortcuts, there is an easy way to prevent it.
How to disable the automatic creation of shortcuts after an app’s installation
1. Open the Play Store app in your Android device.
2. Tap on the ‘hamburger’ menu icon at the top left corner.
3. Tap on the Settings option near the bottom.
4. Look for the option that reads Add icons to Home screen. You will find it under the “General” heading. Remove the check mark from the box.
Any apps you install from now on will not put a shortcut in your Home screen by default. Instead, you will have to open your app drawer and grab their icons from there in order to add it to your Home screen, if you wish.
