Apple planning to retire the iPhone 5C & iPhone 6 reported to have bigger screen

Analysts report that Apple is planning to release two versions of the iPhone 6 and that Apple will be retiring the iPhone 5c early.

According to Analysts, Apple is looking to spruce their line up with some bold claims. The Wall Street Journal’s latest report stats that Apple is planning to launch two iPhones with larger screens at 4.7 and 5.7 inches later this year. Larger screens are not the only features that Apple is using to neutralize its smartphone rivals with either, both are said to feature Eye-Scanners and Touch ID systems. Both of the devices will be made of metal and contrary to previous rumors neither devices will have a curved screen. Apple is also planning to stop producing plastic phones such as the iPhone 5c

Rumors have been that the iPhone 5c is being retired due to low sales, but because Apple lumps all of its iPhone sales together in one pool, its hard to say if those rumors remain true. I wouldn’t find it too shocking if that is the reason though, you don’t find too many companies that trash a product line that’s selling great. Regardless, if you’re looking to save a little money on a new iPhone, now may be the time to purchase that iPhone 5c you’ve been thinking about.

All of these seem like smart moves for Apple, as some people definitely enjoy the smaller screen sizes, where others long for a larger screen. Tossing out plastic phones like the iPhone 5c should secure Apple’s reputation for producing products made of higher quality materials. The two major complaints that I have with my Samsung Galaxy S4 are with the cheap breakable plastic and screen, as well as the large screen size. The screen size is completely preference, but having the option for a smaller screen is a big plus for me. Having a phone made of metal should be considered a all around good thing, because when is the last time you heard someone say “I love that my phone is made of cheap plastic”?

Additionally, the upcoming iPhone 6 will see major upgrades to the bio-metric features like the TouchID fingerprint scanner, which was introduced back in 2013 with the iPhone 5s. A completely new bio-metric feature will be the eye scanner, which was most likely implemented to compete with the upcoming Galaxy S5, though I’m sure Apple will state that it was added to keep up with newer security protocols.

Apart from bio-meteric features and flashy large screens, the iPhone 6 is reported to bring a fresh new line-up of innovations including, Liquidmetal casing, sapphire glass cover, body coating, and wireless charging with a built-in solar panel. Reports also state that the device will feature a A8 64-bit processing chip that will fall in line with the computing standard and will work to directly support features to come in iOS 8.

The iPhone 6 is expected to launch sometime between June and September 2014, so if you’re waiting for a new phone upgrade it could be as soon as the beginning of this spring or as late as this fall. The smaller of the new iPhones would expected to be a lower price, but likely not compared to the iPhone 5c, if you’re looking to score a cheap new iPhone 5c, now would be a good time.
