The App Store has a wide selection of quality games catering to a multitude of preferences but did you know there are quite a few iOS games you can play from the lock screen?
They are perfect time-wasters, that can keep you busy when you have some free time on your hands and nothing better to do with it.
Awesome iOS games you can play from the Lock Screen
Unlike other games, you don’t need to unlock your phone to play them, so they make a great choice while you’re on the go and looking for a simpler form of entertainment. Here are some of our favorite iOS games you can play from the Lock Screen.
Price: Free with IAPs
Jumpers is an addictive endless runner that has a very simple concept and a gray-themed 8-bit style layout. Don’t be fooled by its rudimentary looks, as the game will throw some hard to overcome obstacles in your path. Just swipe down from the Notification Center to access it, whenever you have some time to kill.
Overglide is another game widget that can be played on the notification screen. This time, you’ll have to pilot a paper plane and avoid obstacles to keep it flying as long as possible. Overglide also caters to the competitive crowd with Game Center leaderboards as well as the possibility to challenge friends and share scores via social networks.
Price : 0.99$ (limited-time offer)
GameMoji Widget Games PRO is actually a 3-in-1 widget game bundle, so you get a bit of variety when you’re feeling bored. You can choose between the emoji game, the classic snake game and the jumping ghost game. The latter has an environment that looks a lot like the Mario world, but I don’t think anyone will complain about that.
Price: Free (with IAPs)
Steve seems like such a suitable game for a dinosaur, right? Well…..anyway, in this game you can help Steve (and his friends) jump over obstacles like in any traditional platformer and if it feels somewhat familiar you should know it was designed after the Chrome easter egg dinosaur game.
Whenever you feel like playing pilot, you can simply open up Helicopter from your notification center. It’s a basic game but it sure feels nice to have something to do as you’re waiting for a text reply and the small price tag speaks for itself.
I doubt tic tac toe needs any kind of introduction, but this widget game lets you play it from the lock screen, and any other screen or open app. If you’ve enjoyed this classic game in your youth, you’ll probably enjoy having it in your notification center and there’s an Apple Watch companion app as well.
Oh, the memories! I had a ‘slight’ obsession with Minesweeper in my youth, so I’m not objective at the moment, but this classic game seems so perfect for playing on the lock screen. The widget edition offers all the explosive fun as the desktop counterpart that made Minesweeper so famous and if you ever played it, then you know what I mean.
