You might be wondering what’s all the hype with Pixel’s new wallpapers? Well, these wallpapers have been designed specifically for the new Pixel and Pixel XL handsets and obviously they’re special.

The ‘Live Earth’ wallpapers use the high-definition satellite imagery of Google Earth and a 3D parallax effect that shifts perspective as you navigate from one screen to another. The good news is you can get Google Pixel’s ‘Live Earth’ wallpapers on your Android right now.

How to get Google Pixel’s ‘Live Earth’ wallpapers on your Android

All of the resources for the ‘Live Earth’ wallpapers are available as an APK. This means you only need to sideload the file to get Google Pixel’s ‘Live Earth’ wallpapers on your Android and root is not needed.

However, there are a few requirements in order to install the package. You will need a device with ARM64 processor running Android Marshmallow 6.0 or higher. Also, ‘Unknown sources’ needs to be enabled in your phone’s Settings app so you can sideload the APK file.

With that said, download it from the link below. Tap on the ‘Download complete’ notification then on ‘Install’ when prompted.

Once the app is installed, go to your home screen. Press and hold on any empty area then select ‘Wallpapers’. You can navigate through the new wallpapers using any third-party launcher or Google Now Launcher.

However, if you’re using the new Pixel Launcher it has a dedicated “Live Wallpapers” section. There, all you need to do is select an image then use the ‘Set wallpaper’ option.

Now that you set a wallpaper you can enjoy the amazing parallax effect that changes perspective downward when you unlock the device. Also, the vantage point rotates when you navigate between home screens.

What’s more, there are a few Live Earth wallpapers that are also somewhat functional. The wallpaper called “Your World” shows a live view of the sun’s position at your current location, and the ‘Horizon’ wallpaper transforms from sunrise to sunset as your phone’s battery drains.

These new Live Earth wallpapers look most amazing when you’re using them yourself so give them a try and let us know how you like them!
