The Banner Saga Released for iOS

Remember when The Banner Saga was supposed to come out last month? Well, as we all know, that didn’t really go as planned — but fortunately, Stoic is now releasing the game two days into October. It was looking as though we wouldn’t see the game for a while after it didn’t come out last month, and it wasn’t released last night with the rest of the games. Regardless, you can finally play the highly anticipated game on your iPad as soon as the download finishes. Check out the launch trailer here:

The Banner Saga is a Tactical RPG developed by Stoic, which is a team of former BioWare developers (just so you get a sense of their credentials). Prior to being released on iOS, the game was available on Steam, and had seen very positive reviews from both critics and players. The game offers versatile Gameplay, engaging combat mechanics, and a great story-line to top it all off.

Pricing has been an issue of speculation leading up to the release, and Stoic had expressed concern about mobile gamers not wanting to pay a premium price. In the end, they went with a price of $9.99 for the game, which is still considerably high for a mobile game — but half the price of the PC version. This is probably the best route they could have taken, as I know many mobile gamers are willing to fork out $10 for a really solid game, but $20 just seems too steep for something on the App Store.
