15 New iOS Games This Week (August 6)



There are quite a few new iOS games hitting the app store tonight (9:00 PM PST), and some of them are definitely worth taking a look at. RPGs, Puzzlers, Action — this week has a very wide variety of genres to choose from, and there are a couple of major releases coming as well. For the penny pinchers out there, you’ll be pleased to know that the majority of these games are free, or just a dollar.

99 Challenges! – Free

99 Challenges

Kicking off the list of new games is 99 Challenges, a free to play game that will push your reflexes to their limits. Try to complete 99 unique challenges, that are nearly impossible to actually complete. Simple, yet innovative controls, with hours and hours of gameplay and frustration. Compatible on iPhone and iPad.

Dragon Quest IV – $14.99

screen568x568Yet another Dragon Quest game has made its way onto iOS devices, this time its DQIV. If you’re a fan of the series, you know how great these games are already, so be ready to pick this one up! RPG fans won’t be disappointed. This is by far the most expensive game to be released today, but could easily be the best. Compatible with iPhone and iPad.

Brave Furries – $0.99


Here we have a puzzler with hundreds of different levels to complete, however, each level is relatively short. Most of the puzzles take only a minute to solve, but the mass quantity still means hours of gameplay. This is definitely one of the more intriguing games on the release list, and might be worth a shot since it’s only a dollar.  Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

Bugs vs Aliens – Free

An action game with cartoon graphics, a surprising amount of content, and amusing plot. It’s free to download, but in app purchases are definitely prevalent in this game.  The graphics looks a bit dated, but still might be worth checking out since it’s free. Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

Time Tangle – Adventure Time – $2.99

Fans of the Cartoon Network show Adventure Time will most likely be all over this one, but it could be something for non-fans as well. The game promises to have unlimited quests, thanks to the variables being randomly generated each time. Although it doesn’t look the greatest from the screenshots, there might be some potential here. Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

Space Colors – $0.99

Next up we have a classic space shooter where you’ll fire away from your ship and blow up everything in your path. Space Colors does have a rather unique set of visuals, as well as it’s UI. It’s definitely intriguing, and only $1 to pick up from the app store. Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

Zombie High Dive – Free

Ever wanted to see how far you could launch a zombie off of the top of a building? Now is your chance! Well, at least virtually. Zombie High Dive is a game where the goal is distance by any means necessary, with a few unique twists to change up the pace. There’s boss battles, competitions, achievements, and more waiting for you in this free to play zombie game. Compatible with iPhone and iPad.

Cosmic Arena – Free

Take on the game’s AI or a friend in Cosmic Arena! This game has 50 different arenas to choose from, as well as three levels of difficulty if you play against the AI. When you play against another human, there’s an extra set of buttons so two people can play on one device. Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

Dante’s Fall – Free

A nearly endless runner, taking you through all of the layers of hell. Controls are simple, just swipe to dodge incoming objects — but mastering it is the challenge. See if you can make it through hell, for free! Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

Scooby Doo/Looney Toons Cartoon Universe – $2.99

Play through ten unique mini-games as characters from the Scooby Doo and Looney Toons Cartoon Series. There are costumes and achievements to unlock, and the variety of mini-games will help keep a steady change of pace. Still, this looks like it might have been better off as a free game. Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

Poison Ive – Free

If you’re looking for a free game with no ads, and no major incentive on in app purchases, Poison Ive would fall under that category. This is another puzzler, with 80 different levels to explore and complete. Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

Mad Rooster – $0.99

This game puts you in the life of a Rooster… Who is strapped with rockets, blasting through the Mayan jungle in a desperate attempt to escape military forces. Mad Rooster is an endless runner with tons of challenges, quests, upgrades, and unlocks to score. Can you help the Rooster escape? Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

Ice Age Adventures – Free

Although there might not be too much appeal here if you aren’t a fan of Ice Age, it’s still a free game! Ice Age Adventures offers a few different mini-games, with a few power-ups/twists here and there. Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

Rules! – $1.99

In this puzzler, which looks to be inspired by Threes!, you’ll have to follow the rules to win the game. Each tile has a number, a color, and an icon — and the rules are based off of these elements. Pay close attention or you’ll fail! Compatible with iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.

20Q – Free


It might look like an ugly game, but there’s nothing that can ruin the experience of a classic 20 Questions game! Think of something completely random, and give the AI 20 questions to figure out what you’re thinking — you’ll be surprised at how it can read your mind. Some visual upgrades would be appreciated, but 20Q is free to play and provides endless amounts of fun. Compatible with iPad only.
